The French know that wine and cheese are made for each other. Treat your taste buds to this perfect pairing at a cheese cellar beneath the streets of Paris. Morning at leisure.

Early afternoon, pick up by your guide and his or her vehicle at your accommodation.

Historic tour of Abbaye de Fontenay, Semur en Auxois and Flavigny sur Ozerain (private tour / approx 5 hours):

Abbaye de Fontenay: Fontenay Abbey in Burgundy was founded in 1118 by Saint Bernard of Clairvaux, a leading French saint, and is the oldest preserved Cistercian abbey in the world.

Semur en Auxois: Six majestic gates, together with a barbican gate, linked the Notre-Dame area to the different neighborhoods of the city.

Flavigny sur ozerain: Perched on its hilltop, Flavigny-Sur-Ozerain is a small medieval village. It is classified as one of the 100 loveliest villages in France. We are in northern Côte d’Or, in the Auxois region, close to the ancient town of Alésia. Perched at an altitude of 421 meters on a promontory at the tip of a limestone plateau, Flavigny, its walls, and rooftops dominate a green, hilly landscape. The Ozerain, Brenne, and Verpant rivers run at the bottom of Flavigny.

Today, make your way to France's capital of gastronomy! You'll take a direct train to Lyon where you'll have the afternoon to discover this beautiful city at your own pace.

Lyon is France's third most populous city behind Paris and Marseille is more compact allowing visitors to explore easily by foot. A good place to start is the city's UNESCO-listed Old Town and the Presque Ile—a piece of land surrounded by the two rivers of Saône and Rhône. This is where you can wander the narrow cobblestoned streets in search of the famous traboules (hidden passageways). Also recommended is a walk past roman ruins up to the Fourviere Basilica for a wonderful panorama of the whole city.

As for dinner, you will find yourself in the midst of hundreds of restaurants where you can choose between a range of family-owned restaurants serving traditional Lyonnaise cuisine, informal brasseries, and Michelin-starred restaurant like the iconic Auberge de Collonges, founded by the famous chef Paul Bocuse.
